English is the global language of business. Companies worldwide are now mandating English as the common corporate language in an attempt to facilitate communication across geographically diverse functions and business activity. 

 In this presentation we will discuss the challenges facing businesses that require English speaking staff and make some recommendations about they can be overcome.  Areas that will be addressed include:

-How can HR teams truly understand the level of English of new recruits?
-What are the dangers of recruiting staff without the appropriate English skills? 
-How do companies like yours attract good English speakers?
-How do different business sectors see the importance of English 

The presentation will draw upon global research undertaken by Cambridge English Language Assessment (part of the University of Cambridge) in conjunction with QS (creator of the World University Rankings Report), into the importance of English language proficiency in the workplace.  Insights into how Turkish companies approach this will be compared to Spanish, Italian, German and French companies. 

The session will also include a case study focused on how Eczacıbaşı's – the Turkish industrial group - has approach the challenge of English proficiency at work.
