Livelihoods Officer UNHCR United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees

Damla Taşkın is the Livelihoods Officer for Turkey in the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. She oversees the programmes related to labor market integration of refugees with the overall objective of self reliance. Her previous position was as a Livelihoods Officer for Middle East and North Africa. She worked for various United Nations agencies in countries such as Turkey, Kuwait, Egypt, Azerbaijan and South Africa. With her overall work experience of 23 years; she has started her career in the private sector in textiles, telecommunication and electronics industries in Turkey, United States and the Netherlands. Damla Taşkın was the Director of İzmir ABİGEM (EU Turkey Business Centre); the first business support organisation in its field, which gave her the opportunity to counsel and train numerous SMEs and become aware of the competitiveness and entrepreneurship challenge in depth. With this transition, she has dedicated more than half of her career to development challenges.

She prepared the United Nations Post 2015 Development Agenda - Engaging with the Private Sector, Turkey Country Report for Sustainable Development Goals, after extensive consultations. She is a graduate of TED Ankara Koleji, Hacettepe University and Middle East Technical University.
