Selin Sayek-Böke represents Izmir as a Member of Parliament and has been serving as the Deputy Chair Responsible of Economic Policy of Republican People’s Party since September 2014 and the Party Spokesperson since January 2016.
Sayek-Böke who graduated from the Middle East Technical University Faculty of Economics in 1993, attended the Duke University between 1993 and 1999 where she received M.A. and PHd. degrees in the field of Economics. Between 1999 and 2001 she worked as an assistant professor of Economics at Bentley College. In 2001 Sayek-Böke started working as an economist in the International Monetary Fund before returning to Turkey in 2003. Upon her return, she became a faculty at the Bilkent University where she had been the chair of the Faculty of Economics  between 2011 and 2014. Her work on the determinants and the impact of foreign direct investment received 2007 Excellence Award in Global Economics from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy; 2010 Science and Incentive Award from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and 2011 Incentive Award from Mustafa Parlar Foundation.
